Storm and Water Damage Help for Orange County Homes

If water is in your home right now, deal with safety first and the floor later. Shut off electricity to the affected area if you can reach the panel safely, keep out of standing water, and call 911 if anyone is in danger. Follow any evacuation order you are given. Flooring decisions can wait until morning; nothing on this page is more important than that.

Once everyone is safe, three things decide what happens next: how fast the water comes out, what kind of water it was, and what your floors are made of.

Who we are and what we do

US Floor Design Center has been in the same showroom on Santa Margarita Parkway for three decades. We are a licensed, bonded and insured California contractor. We serve Rancho Santa Margarita, Mission Viejo, Ladera Ranch, Coto de Caza, Lake Forest, Trabuco Canyon, Dove Canyon, Las Flores and Rancho Mission Viejo.

We are the people who put the house back together. Flooring, subfloor, baseboards, trim, cabinets and the rooms around them.

We are not an emergency response company and we will not pretend otherwise. We do not extract water, we do not run drying equipment, and we do not come out at 2am. That work is a different trade and it matters enormously that it is done well and fast. If you need it tonight, call a 24-hour water extraction and drying company first.

When the house is dry, call us. 949-589-9226.

Why this winter

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center puts the odds of a very strong El Niño during the fall and winter of 2026-27 above 90%, and gives a 75% chance that the October to December season produces an event stronger than any since 1950. El Niño is forecast to keep strengthening through the end of the year. Southern California is the part of the state that most reliably sees above-normal rainfall in those winters.

That is not a reason to panic and it is not a sales pitch. It is a reason to find your water shutoff before you need it, and to check whether your insurance covers what you think it covers.

Questions we get asked

Do you do emergency water removal?

No. We are a restoration and flooring contractor, not an emergency response company. We can refer you to companies that do extraction and drying around the clock, and we handle the repairs once your home is dry.

How fast do I need to act?

Faster than most people expect. Mold can begin growing on wet materials within 24 to 48 hours according to the CDC, and the difference between a floor that is saved and one that is replaced is often a single day.

Do you work with insurance?

We provide a detailed written estimate you can give your insurer, and we document damage thoroughly with photographs. We do not negotiate claims or advise on coverage, because that requires a public adjuster license, which we do not hold and which no contractor should be acting as.

What areas do you serve?

South Orange County, including Rancho Santa Margarita, Mission Viejo, Ladera Ranch, Coto de Caza, Lake Forest, Trabuco Canyon, Dove Canyon, Las Flores and Rancho Mission Viejo.

How much does water damage repair cost?

It depends on how much flooring is affected, whether the subfloor is damaged, and what material is going back. We quote from measurement rather than from a phone call, and the assessment is free.

Are you licensed?

Yes. We are a licensed, bonded and insured California contractor. You can verify any contractor's license at cslb.ca.gov before you hire them, and after a disaster you should.
